Subject: BC3K -- DEREKOLOGY!? From: Courageous Date: 1998/07/07 Message-ID: <35A19897.310E@san.rr.com> Newsgroups: comp.sys.ibm.pc.games.strategic I rarely pipe up on this topic, as it is largely a fruitless one. However, lately, I have been getting tired of the whole Derekology phenomenon. I have to say, I'm a bit puzzled. I can't see how on earth you guys can keep up the steam on such a tired old topic. The issue is settled. Here's how it got settled: 1. Derek claimed to have a PhD. 2. He was asked where it came from. 3. He declined to state where it was from, in a visible public forum. 4. He is fully cognizant that in all academic circles one never, ever fails to answer that question. 5. He is fully cognizant that, irrespective of whether he actually HAS a PhD, anyone from any academic circle would conclude he doesn't. 6. He how lives with the simple fact that anyone from an academic circle now simply fails to believe he has a PhD -- whether or not he does. 7. He understands all of this, believe me. I've spoken with him privately about it in very great detail. It is NOT lost on him. In fact, he AGREES that it is the reasonable course of action. Folks, it is over. It's a dead horse. Finito. Finished. You may, if you wish, conclude that he does not have a PhD. Whether or not you would be right is an entirely different issue that I don't care to get into. It's irrelevant. You are fully justified in thinking he doesn't, until and unless he selects to provide information to you otherwise. C.
